VTS Workday: Arcata Community Forest

Dear Much Appreciated Volunteers,
We will be working in the Sunny Brae Forest on Saturday, September 23rd for our monthly workday. We will meet at 9 am and work until about 12 (noon). We haven’t been there since February and will plan to brush back the Beith Creek Loop, clean out water bars for winter, and, of course, remove invasives (croscomia, cotoneaster, ivy, holly, pampas grass seed heads). We will most certainly have one crew hike the entire Loop Trail. There will be something for everyone. I will again have the usual sandwich buffet.
Also know that Jonny Mauillo is again coordinating work at the Arcata Marsh for the annual Coastal Clean-up on Saturday, September 30th. They work from 9 – 12 (noon) and will be picking up trash along the Bay Trail North and along South G. Contact Jonny for more information at elfmaiullo@gmail.com
We will meet at the Margaret Trailhead. For those of you unfamiliar with Sunny Brae Forest, head east on Buttermilk Lane from Old Arcata Road for .9 mile. At the small roundabout at the top of Buttermilk Lane (just before it descends and makes a sharp right turn) turn left on Margaret for one block. If you need more detailed instructions let me know.

As you know we work rain or shine. I’ll have the usual supply of work gloves and snacks. But, bring your own water.
